Another area of specialty is work with others regarding their relationships with adult family members, whether they are mother/daughter, mother-in-law/daughter-in-law, siblings or other family relationships.
Family relationships can be the source of great distress in life because they play an important role in your life, have a long emotional history and many complicating factors.
You may not be aware, for example, that a daughter's relationship with her mother affects all other relationships in the daughter's life because she learns to relate to others through her bond with her first important relationship. Therefore, resolving this relationship can make all other relationships less stressful.
I want to clarify that it is not necessary that both family members attend counseling in order to make some significant changes in the relationship. Learning to do what you can do rather than waiting for the other party to change - or trying to change her/him, is a path to empowerment in the relationship.
