It’s likely that you have questions, and, being an educator at heart, it’s my passion to help you in your own journey and address some of these questions below.
I don’t really need help. I can do it on my own.
It is natural to want to take care of your own problems and not rely on others. In therapy, you can build trust in our relationship at your own pace and ultimately find ways to resolve issues or problems on your own.
You have made a good start at helping yourself by exploring the option of counseling. I view this as a sign of strength. At some point in our lives, we all need objective help to understand ourselves, our situation and the possibilities for solutions that are open to us.
Therapy is too expensive. I can’t afford it.
Can you afford not to?
It is generally accepted that stress and negativity in our lives contribute significantly to poor physical and emotional health. Further, studies in positive psychology show that positive interpersonal relationships influence, in a major way, our overall health, well-being and life satisfaction.
Some clients felt the expense of therapy was an obstacle to freeing themselves of the stress and pain they felt but found the cost to be a life-long investment in themselves, their relationships and their health.
As one client remarked, “I found the benefits of my therapy to be priceless!”
